The famed CEO of Jet Blue David Neeleman often credits his ADHD as something that has allowed him to reach such incredible levels of success. In an interview, Neeleman stated that “[i]f someone told me you could be normal or you could continue to have your ADHD, I would take ADHD.”
“I can distill complicated facts and come up with simple solutions. I can look out on an industry with all kinds of problems and say, ‘How can I do this better?’ My ADD brain naturally searches for better ways of doing things.”
In this case, Neeleman took a condition that often hampers people, and he used it to becoming a better entrepreneur. The most important lesson resulting from this, it could be argued, is that simply taking a pill for ADHD isn’t always the best solution, as it can be a great addition to your life. To make full use of what could potentially be described as a gift, many individuals could look to behavioral therapy or (more recently) neurofeedback, both of which allow the individual to live a healthy, fruitful life without the overly potent effect of pills.
